Box Making Class
Box Making Class
Introduction to Box Making
Saturday, March 23rd, 2024
10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Learn to create a lidded box for books, tools, or whatever you need. We’ll go through the process of using bookboard to create boxes that will then be covered with bookcloth or paper- for the enterprising artisan who wishes to keep things well preserved and organized.
Share the experience of box making with a friend! Sign up together and you each save $25.
The construction of customized boxes lends itself well to gifts by ensuring that the contents are protected and preserved. The skills learned in this class will give students a solid foundation for further box making and can be applied to projects far beyond book arts.
Tools Required: cutting mat, ruler, utility knife or similar, pencil, scissors, brush for glue
Optional Tools: bone folder, book to be boxed, dividers, square, paper
There is a wide selection of bookcloth available for purchase at the studio as well as bookboard and some decorative papers.
All Classes are held at Editions, located at 6520 5th Ave S #114 Seattle, WA 98108. Go through the red door (or big white door if it’s open) and turn right past the blacksmiths.
