Coptic Bookbinding (Single needle)

Coptic Bookbinding (Single needle)
Sunday, November 16th
10 am - 6 pm
Kevin will lead participants through his own style of single needle coptic binding. The traditional method of single needle coptic involves kettle stitches at the head and tail, but in this structure chain stitches will be exclusively utilized. As with any coptic structure, it’s one of the earliest styles of bookbinding, and produces a hardcover book that lays perfectly flat. One of the nicest features of this binding is the beautiful exposed spine.
In this class, we will learn learn about paper grain, and bind a book with exposed stitching.
You can visit Kevin’s Instagram to see his current book arts work.
All Classes are held at Editions, located at 6520 5th Ave S #104 Seattle, WA 98108. The northern external door under the silo has a doorbell but there’s another doorbell for us next to the garage door- turn left once inside; studio is at the end of the hall under the stairs
If you have any questions about this class, please contact the coordinator sarah@editions.studio.
