Bookbinding with Text
How do you manage the bookbinding process when you’re working with printed pages?
April 5, 2025
10am-6pm
You will bind your own copy of Frankenstein, Pride and Prejudice, or Secret Garden (your choice) as a hollow tube binding. This style of binding has a rounded, flexible spine. This is not a structure for beginners. You should have taken at least one bookbinding workshop where you learned about paper grain and applying adhesives.
Share the love! Sign up with a friend, and you each get $25 dollars off.
You will learn how to maintain registration as you sew (keep printed pages aligned and in order), round and back the sign with a backing hammer and backing press, and sew endbands. You should already know how to sew a book using a French link stitch, and you should already be familiar with casing-in.
Please bring the following with you:
Pencil
Scissors
Bonefolder
Bookbinding awl
Xacto knife or Olfa blade
Cutting mat
Metal-edged ruler
Glue brush (we recommend a 1" flat brush)
All Classes are held at Editions, located at 6520 5th Ave S #104 Seattle, WA 98108. Go through the red door (or big white door if it’s open) and turn left under the stairs.
