Tomes for Treasured Moments
Saturday, July 27th 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
and
Saturday, August 10th 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Make photo album half-bound in leather (leather spine and corners). You must have previous experience with a hollow tube binding.
You will learn how sew pages with guards (stubs of paper at the spine to account for the additional thickness of photographs) and a French fold, and to pare leather with a Schärf-fix. You should already know how to sew a book using a French link stitch, and you should already be familiar with rounding and backing, as well as sewing endbands. We will not make raised designs for the covers during class, but you will receive instructions for a raised design you may follow on your own in between the two sessions.
Please bring the following with you:
Pencil
Scissors
Bonefolder
Bookbinding awl
Xacto knife or Olfa blade
Cutting mat
Metal-edged ruler
Glue brush (we recommend a 1" flat brush)
All Classes are held at Editions, located at 6520 5th Ave S #114 Seattle, WA 98108. Go through the red door (or big white door if it’s open) and turn right past the blacksmiths.
If you have any questions about this class, please contact the coordinator: sarah@editions.studio.
